Woodridge Habitat for Humanity Project volunteers needed

Click here for pictures of the Habitat House we are building.  Here are some more pictures.

We're starting late January and going through May 2012.  We are teaming with Strawbridge United Methodist on a one story, three bedroom house in a Habitat subdivision near Conroe.  Volunteer work areas include: Child Care, Communication, Construction Helper, Construction Worker, Hospitality, and Painter.  No children under 14 are allowed on the construction job site and ages under 18 are limited to non hazardous construction activities.  We will have a brief informational meeting during our regular Wednesday night dinner on January 11th from 5-6:30pm.  If you plan on eating supper that Wednesday, reservations are required.  Please make your supper reservations online.  To sign up or for more information please email Dave Seitzinger (WBC Habitat volunteer coordinator) 2012habitat@gmail.com and copy Chris Smith csmith@woodridge.org.

Up to date Information:

As most of you know, rain got us again this past weekend (not really complaining – rain is a good thing, except when you’re trying to build a house!)….so we’ll try again this week!

We’d like to have 20-25 volunteers.  Key task will be to erect/secure remaining roof trusses.  Beyond that as time permits, we will install gable rough soffits (“ladders”) that we built last week and begin installation of eave rough fascia and roof deckingPlease let me know by return e-mail if you’re willing and able to join us on Saturday (if you previously indicated that you could make it, please re-confirm your availability).  Per usual, we’ll meet at Strawbridge at 7am and return to Kingwood by 5pm latest.  Once I have a list of volunteers, I’ll send a confirming e-mail with additional details.

One other administrative item…..if you are an ExxonMobil employee or annuitant: (1) please let me know, and (2) keep track of hours you spend on the Habitat project.  Based on response, I’ll look into applying for a team Volunteer Involvement Program (VIP) grant.

Thanks,

Howard Deterding harv@kingwoodcable.net
