Four basic requirements to serving on a committee at Woodridge:

  1. A member of Woodridge Baptist Church
  2. A regular attendee of Sunday School
  3. A regular attendee in Sunday morning worship
  4. Practice the Biblical stewardship principle of tithing

Listed below are the current standing committees of Woodridge.  If you are interested in nominating yourself or someone else for a committee you can do so here.

Stewardship Committee

Purpose Statement

In cooperation with the Senior Pastor and the ministerial staff, the committee prepares the Church budget for approval by the Church, monitors and reports financial activity and liquidity to ensure the Church has the financial resources to fulfill its mission, and reviews non-budgeted expenses for presentation and approval by the Church.

Personnel Committee

Purpose Statement

In cooperation with the Pastor or appropriate staff member, assist the Church in matters related to employed personnel administration.

Attributes

  • Supervisory or management level business experience
  • Human resources experience preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Missions Committee

Purpose Statement

In cooperation with the Pastor and Missions Minister, assists the Church in determining areas of service locally and internationally; also determines how mission funds will be spent.

  • Have been involved in at least one mission activity

Long Range Planning Committee

Purpose Statement

Proactively develop plans, strategies, and recommendations to  meet the long range, physical structural and/or space needs of  Woodridge Baptist Church and to ensure the Church achieves its mission and goals.

  • Project management is desirable

Benevolence Committee

Purpose Statement

In cooperation with proper staff members, studies the benevolence needs of Church families, designs a plan for meeting the needs and administers the plan.

  • Able to be available during the day on short notice
  • Maintains confidentiality
  • Compassionate but exercises good judgment
  • Willing to say no when appropriate

Properties Committee

Purpose Statement

In cooperation with the Facilities Manager, assist the Church in keeping our Church property safe, secure and operational.

Attributes

  • Construction or project management skills are desirable
  • General knowledge of facilities and contract management is desirable

Bylaws & Policies Committee

Purpose Statement

Responsibility for reviewing bylaws and church policies and processing bylaw amendments.

Attributes

  • Basic knowledge of church policies and procedures
  • Good understanding of church organization and structure
  • Good communication skills – both verbal and written

Pastoral Advisory Committee

Purpose Statement

This committee is comprised of the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Deacons and at least two members of the congregation.  It serves as a means of resolution should any issues arise with the Senior Pastor.

  • Posses conflict resolution skills

Committee on Committees

Purpose Statement

In cooperation with proper staff member, the Committee on Committees nominates persons to serve on committees as defined in the Bylaws.  Nominations are presented at a business meeting where Church members then elect the committee members.
