The Women’s Ministry at Woodridge Baptist Church seeks to create faithful worshippers of God by cultivating women, through community, discipleship, evangelism and service, into mature followers of Jesus Christ, empowering them to study, apply, and share God’s Word in their daily lives as they develop their unique spiritual gifts.
All events or classes will grow under these four categories with an emphasis on spiritual growth being the foundation:
- Relational Support
- Mental Development
- Emotional Well-being
- Physical Health
One part of the Discipleship Pathway is to make disciples in a yearly Discipleship Group, or a “D-Group.” A D-Group is a gender specific, closed group of 3-7 believers who meet together weekly for the purpose of accelerated spiritual transformation. A person joins the D-Group by invitation only, with most D-Groups being formed out of relationships in Discipleship Classes.
Women’s Summer Discipleship Classes
Steadfast Love Online Class: A Study of Psalm 107
Led by: Melody Brackett
In all your summer travels, stay in the Word and connected to other women through a Facebook-based Bible Study. Work through Lauren Chandler's Steadfast Love study of Psalm 107 while you check in weekly for videos, discussion, activities, and thoughts from Melody. The best part is you can do this from anywhere in the world and not miss a lesson!
Savvy: A Study of Proverbs
Led by: Judy Waldrup
Come and learn God's truth for a life that works! We all need wisdom but not the kind that the world offers. This 8 week study of Proverbs is applicable for young and old with all levels of Bible study experience. Each of the lessons can stand alone so no need to be concerned because it is summer.
Be the Bridge: Racial Reconciliation Study
Led by: Lesley Conway and Gracie Sukach
For women high school and up. Mothers and high school daughters are encouraged to participate!
A diverse group of Christian women who meet to have open conversations about race intentionally wanting to understand the experiences of other ethnicities in hopes of building bridges in our personal relationships and community.
- For God to be glorified
- For the church to be credible
- For Christians to develop biblical tools that empower them to be the bridge between people divided by racial and cultural differences, and thereby bring healing and transformation to communities. Absences for summer vacations are not a problem. We will participate in various cultural activities throughout the summer to enhance our understanding of the study. Attendance is optional but will be lots of fun.
