In a busy world, our community is often spread thin by tight schedules and demanding leagues that turn out to be highly competitive.  Our Sports & Recreation Ministry seeks to reach the community for Jesus Christ through sports and build relationships with our participating families. Throughout the year, we offer many opportunities – some recreational and some competitive – to meet the relational needs of our community.  Come and join us!

For the past 25 years, we have teamed up with Upward Sports to provide opportunities in several different sports. The sports seasons are an awesome opportunity to learn the game and experience playing on a team. Upward offers the opportunity for all players to play the same amount over the course of the season.

From October through January, we offer Upward Basketball for ages Kindergarten through completed the 6^th grade.  Each team practices once a week for 1 hour and plays a game for 1 hour starting in week 3 of the season. All games are on Saturdays.

From February through the first week in May, we offer Upward Volleyball for ages 4^th grade through completed the 12^th grade.  Experienced or athletic 3^rd graders are also welcome to try it out. Each team practices once a week for 1 hour and plays a game for 1 hour starting in week 3 of the season. All games are on Saturdays.

Beginning fall of 2026, we are offering Upward Running for high school and adult ages. This is a new addition to the Upward lineup, and we love to get out and enjoy the trails in Kingwood! We will “run” our events either as stand-alone or along with the Kingwood BridgeFest each year.

On alternating Sunday nights, we have volleyball for high school and adults. We have a recreation division from 6:30-7:45pm and competitive (invite/tryout only) from 7:45pm to 9:00pm. A Remind notification will be setup.

Pickleball has taken off, and our weekday sessions have grown from 1 day per week to 4 days! We have pickleball Mondays through Thursdays from 9am to 12pm. It’s an awesome time to come have fun and meet other adults. Tournaments will be scheduled throughout the year.

Do you enjoy nature and throwing some discs around? Put your cell phone down and join us for Disc Golf at some of the local disc golf courses. If you don’t have discs or sold them after college, come any way!  We have plenty to share with you.

In the Fall and Spring, we hold our Woodridge Baptist Church bowling league at MaxBowl in Humble. It is an awesome time of fun… and everyone is in shape enough to bowl!

Yes, fantasy football with your friends and a short Bible study each week.  It is a ton of fun talking up your favorite players and then talking about the Lord.

Throughout the year, work off your Sunday lunch with adult basketball on Sunday afternoons. Due to church events, the schedule often fluctuates, so a Remind notification is setup to keep up to date. Some weeks we also offer preteen basketball to keep our kids running the floor.

Starting this year, we will have basketball games for members of our special needs community!  It is a great time to encourage and cheer for those that rarely get to play sports.  We are starting with a few games this year in hopes to grow it into a league in the future.

We will be hosting an awesome sports camp this summer for children ages 5-12! There will be multiple sports/camps to choose from – or do it all!

Knowing that not all children are sports-inclined, we will be teaming with the Children’s Ministry to host an Adventure Camp. Campers will choose from various tracks from woodworking to sewing, from crafts to landscaping. It will be an awesome week of adventure!
