Easter is right around the corner. Often, the day contains church services, family meals, egg hunts, and nice outfits. But as Christians, Easter should be the most humbling and awe-inspiring day of the year, as we reflect on the sacrifice and love of Christ. Here are some simple ways to prepare your heart for the Easter season:

1. Read the Gospel Accounts

Try a devotional or reading plan that you can read a little each day that leads you up to the story of the empty tomb on Easter. It is vitally important to keep the story of Jesus fresh on our minds as we go into the Easter season. After all, that’s what Easter is all about!

2. Avoid Getting Caught Up in the Details

You may have big plans for Easter Sunday, like making a big meal, having family and friends over, or preparing activities for the kids. While these can be fun and meaningful times, make sure you don’t get caught up in the busyness of it all. Choose to be like Mary, sitting at the feet of her Lord, than like Martha, who stressed over the preparations.

3. Take Time to Reflect

The sacrifice of Christ is no small matter. It should humble us, encourage us, and create in us a deep sense of thankfulness. As the days lead up to Easter, make an intentional effort to thank God for all he has done. Reflect on the beauty of the Gospel and the goodness of our Savior.

4. Live Out Easter

Easter is about so much more than plastic eggs and bunnies. But it’s also more than checking a box for attending a Sunday service. Remembering the love that God poured out for us should move us to action and devotion. Choose to live out the love of Christ, given to us that Easter morning.

We hope to see you at Woodridge for one of our three Easter services at 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00.
